Picking 'Shrooms

Myyy... preccioouuussssss!

Birthday Weekend

CC & I celebrated both of our birthdays (on consecutive days) in one huge weekend! Dinner with her parents, a picnic, rollercoaster rides at Tivoli Gröna Lund, drinks with some of her really great friends, another delicious dinner at one of CC's favourite restaurants and a wedding on CC's birthday to top it all off! Massive. My old-man body and heart almost couldn't take all the excitement!

Special mention goes to this house, which made my day (I'm a simple guy, alright!). The roof needs a good mow. HUGE thankyou's to everyone for the birthday wishes and to everyone who made the weekend as awesome as it was (whether you were from Perth, Melbourne, the Phil's or Sweden) - you know who you are! I'll finish this particular post with some stunning artwork from some friends that you will all want to hang on your walls.

Hallstahammar

We went to Hallstahammar to check out one of CC's old favourite camping spots. At the camping spot they also happened to have these massive, ancient, cog-driven, boat-elevator things in the middle of the river, which allow the boats to go up/down different levels (ie so you dont have to crash your boat down a waterfall). I'd never heard of them before and I'm pretty sure we dont have them in Aus...interesting stuff to watch, anyway! Also: Piles of dried wood sitting in the middle of a river. A-mazing.

Stockholm!

One of the best things about Sweden's long Summer days is that it takes a really long time for the sun to set - I think it can literally take a couple of hours... so when you get sunsets like this, there's no massive rush to get photos done.

Xytaholm / Flen

The lunch, view & company at Xytaholm was awesome (and really cheap, considering!). We rode their on our bikes, had lunch and rode to a lake afterwards to relax & go for a swim. Unlike many similar'ish places in Australia, there was nothing in the lake that threatened to eat, sting, bite, maim or destroy me. Bonus!

We went for a walk through a nearby forest, got lost and almost dehydrated to death. Luckily for us, some clever animals had left refreshingly cool berry mojitos on the grass. We drank them reluctantly, and made our way home just in time for dinner. Thank you, clever animals, wherever you are.

This was dinner. Just like every other night, it was delicious!

My girl's collection of oldskool Nintendo games. Yes people, this is love!

See? Love.

Hotel Amaranten

Thanks to some executive business-talk from CC, we got free upgrades to an incredible room at this hotel. That view...joiiiiizus. I could've happily spent all day taking photos from those windows. One day, hotel room apartment with amazing views, I will buy you. Right after getting my helicopter and Lamborghini.
